Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 13, 2026

sim-boat.com is a browser-based boat parking simulator. This policy explains what data the site handles, why, and what your choices are. The short version: the simulator itself runs entirely in your browser, we use no analytics or advertising, and the only personal data we store server-side comes from two optional features — Google sign-in (for the leaderboard) and the contact form.

What we don't do

Cookies

The site sets exactly one cookie: simboat_sess, a strictly necessary session cookie (valid up to 30 days) created when your browser talks to our server — that is, when you open the simulator or use the contact form. It does two things: keeps you signed in if you log in, and rate-limits submissions to prevent spam. It contains only a random session identifier, is not used for tracking and is not shared with anyone.

Playing as a guest

You can use the full simulator without an account. In that case we store no personal data on our servers. Your browser's localStorage keeps a few things locally on your device only: your language choice and any settings profiles you save. They never leave your device and you can clear them at any time through your browser's site-data settings.

Like virtually all websites, the web server keeps standard technical access logs (IP address, requested URL, browser user-agent, timestamp) for security and troubleshooting. The site is hosted by serveriai.lt on servers in Lithuania (European Union).

Signing in with Google (optional)

Signing in exists for one purpose: saving your results to the public leaderboard and syncing your settings profiles across devices. When you sign in with Google, we receive and store:

While you use the leaderboard features we also store:

Your logged-in state is remembered through the simboat_sess session cookie described above.

What is public: the leaderboard shows only your nickname (or an anonymous "Captain #N" if you haven't set one) and your time. Your email, real name and photo are never shown publicly — your name and photo are visible only to you in your own browser.

Sign-in is provided by Google Identity Services; Google's Privacy Policy applies to Google's own processing.

Contact form

If you use the contact page, we receive the message you write, your email address and the topic you selected. This arrives to us as an email that also includes your IP address and the sending time (used to deal with abuse). We use it solely to reply to you and keep the correspondence no longer than needed for that.

The contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA v3, which assesses whether the sender is human. reCAPTCHA is a Google service and receives technical data about your browser and IP address; Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.

Third-party services

No other third parties receive your data.

Legal bases (GDPR)

Retention and deletion

Account data (account details, leaderboard times, settings profiles) is kept until you delete your account. You can delete it yourself at any time in the simulator: Settings → Profile → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent and removes everything we hold about you — the account, all leaderboard entries and all saved profiles.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete and receive a copy of your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Lithuania: the State Data Protection Inspectorate, vdai.lrv.lt). For anything this page doesn't answer, write to us via the contact page.

Children

The site is a general-audience game and does not knowingly collect data from children. Signing in requires a Google account, which is subject to Google's own age requirements.

Changes to this policy

If we change what data the site handles (for example, by adding new features), we will update this page and the date at the top.
