Built for real boat handling

⚙️

Twin engines, differential thrust

Two independent sterndrives. Split the throttles — one ahead, one astern — and spin the boat on the spot, just like at a real dock.

↔️

Bow thruster practice

A ~40 kgf bow thruster for the last metres. Learn when a short push helps — and when the crosswind simply wins.

💨

Wind, current and waves

Crosswind pushing you off the quay, current along the fairway, waves rocking the hull — every scenario changes your approach.

🔧

Fully configurable physics

Boat length, mass, engine power, drag, thruster force, wind and current — every parameter is adjustable, so you can tune the boat until it handles like yours.

⭐

Six docking scenarios

From a calm first berth (★) to storm-force crosswind (★★★★★) and a stern-in slot between two moored boats.

🏆

Leaderboard for clean runs

The clock runs from your first input; any collision disqualifies the attempt. Sign in with Google, pick a nickname and race the best captains.

How the docking practice works

STEP 1

Pick a scenario

Six tasks sorted by difficulty — calm harbour, breeze, crosswind, storm and stern-in parking between boats.

STEP 2

Take the helm

Keyboard controls: W/S and O/L for the two engines, 4/6 for the rudder, G/H for the bow thruster, Space for all-stop.

STEP 3

Moor in the green zone

Come in slow, parallel and almost stopped. Hold it for a moment and the boat moors itself — lines and fenders go out.

Frequently asked questions

Is sim-boat free?

Yes. The boat docking simulator is completely free and runs in your browser. No account is needed to play — Google sign-in is only for the leaderboard and syncing your settings.

Do I need to download or install anything?

No. It runs in any modern browser with WebGL — open the page and take the helm. There is nothing to download.

Can I practice docking with a bow thruster?

Yes. The boat has a bow thruster (G/H keys) alongside twin engines and a rudder, so you can practice the same combinations you would use on a real boat.

How realistic is the physics?

The model is based on an 8.8 m twin-engine cruiser (~3.8 t, 2×250 HP): inertia, lateral drag, wind on the hull, current and differential thrust. It is a trainer, not an arcade game — slow and heavy, like the real thing.

Can I change the boat and the conditions?

Yes — engine count, boat size and mass, engine power, wind, current and waves are all adjustable. Sign in to unlock the settings and save up to three profiles.
